The agreement

These terms are an agreement between Contractor Front Desk (“we”, “us”) and the business that uses our service (“you”). You accept them when you sign up, check out, connect an app like Jobber, or use the service. If you accept for a business, you confirm you're allowed to bind it.

Contractor Front Desk is for business use only. If you have a signed order or quote with us, its terms apply where they differ from these.

What we provide

An AI receptionist that answers your business's calls, sorts emergencies from routine work, books jobs, texts or calls your crew, and sends you call summaries. We build and run it from the information you give us. The features, included calls and support you get depend on the plan you choose.

If we give you a phone number to use with the service, it's for use with Contractor Front Desk. Where the carrier allows, you can ask to move the number to another provider. Numbers we provide may be released 30 days after you cancel.

Your responsibilities

  • Give us accurate information: your hours, service area, what counts as an emergency, who's on call, and any prices it may quote. Tell us when these change.
  • Set up call forwarding as we describe, and keep your staff's phone numbers current.
  • Read your call summaries and follow up with callers. You're responsible for the jobs you take and the work you do.
  • Follow the laws that apply to your calls and texts, including call-recording notice and consent rules, and telemarketing and anti-spam laws such as Canada's CASL and CRTC rules and the US TCPA.
  • Don't use the service for unlawful, harassing or deceptive calls or texts, unsolicited robocalls, or anything that would put callers at risk.
  • Don't copy, resell or reverse engineer the service, or try to get around its limits or security.
  • Keep your login details secure and tell us right away if you think someone has misused your account.

AI limits and emergencies

Your receptionist is automated. It can mishear, misunderstand or make mistakes, and a call can fail because of phone carriers, internet outages or the services we rely on. We work hard to keep it accurate and available, but we don't promise that every call will be answered correctly, that every caller will be booked, or that you'll win any particular job.

It is not an emergency service. It doesn't replace 911. For dangers such as gas leaks, fires or electrical hazards, it can tell callers to contact emergency services, but you're responsible for how your business responds. Emergency calls and texts to your crew only work if your crew answers them.

Jobber and other connected apps

If you connect Jobber or another app, you authorise us to read and write data in that app as the integration needs (described in our Privacy Policy). Your use of that app is governed by its own terms. We're not responsible for outages or changes on its side, and an integration may stop working if the app changes or ends access. You can disconnect at any time.

Jobber, ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro and QuickBooks are trademarks of their respective owners. We connect to them; we're not affiliated with them.

Plans, fees and billing

  • Fees are the ones shown for your plan at checkout or in your order, in US dollars unless stated otherwise.
  • Plans are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe, and renew automatically until you cancel.
  • Calls beyond the number included in your plan are charged at the per-call rate for your plan.
  • Prices don't include taxes. You pay any taxes that apply.
  • If a payment fails, we'll let you know. If it isn't fixed, we may pause the service until it is.
  • We'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email before we change your price.
  • Discounts, founding-shop offers and guarantees apply as written in the offer or order you accepted.

Cancelling

  • You can cancel at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and the service keeps working until then.
  • We don't refund partial periods, except where a written guarantee you accepted says otherwise or the law requires it.
  • We may pause or end your service if you don't pay, break these terms, or use the service in a way that puts others at risk. Where we reasonably can, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to fix it.
  • When your service ends, we stop answering your calls. Turn off call forwarding so calls don't go unanswered.
  • You can ask for an export of your call data within 30 days of the end of your service. After that we delete it as described in our Privacy Policy.

Your data

Your business information and your call data belong to you. You give us permission to use them to provide, support and improve the service for you. We may use information that has been combined and stripped of anything that identifies you or your callers to improve Contractor Front Desk. How we handle personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.

Our property

The service, our software, our call scripts and setups, and this website belong to us. These terms don't give you ownership of any of it. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.

Confidentiality

Each of us will keep the other's non-public business information confidential and use it only for this agreement, unless the law requires it to be disclosed.

Disclaimers

Apart from what these terms or your order expressly promise, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all other warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

Limits on liability

To the extent the law allows:

  • Neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue, jobs or customers, even if warned they were possible.
  • Our total liability for any claims about the service is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

These limits don't apply to your obligation to pay fees, or to liability that can't be limited by law.

Indemnity

You'll cover our reasonable losses and costs from claims by others that arise from your breach of these terms, the information you give us, your use of the service against the law (including call-recording, telemarketing and texting laws), or the work your business does.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top and, for significant changes, email you at least 30 days before they take effect. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply. If you don't agree, you can cancel before they take effect.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be heard by the courts in Calgary, Alberta, and both of us agree to their jurisdiction.

General

  • These terms, your order and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between us about the service.
  • Neither of us is responsible for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
  • If part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • You can't transfer this agreement without our consent. We may transfer it as part of a sale or reorganisation of our business.
  • We'll send notices to the email on your account. Send notices to us at hello@contractorfrontdesk.com.
